Use this guide to prepare for a conversation with your installer.
Floor comfort or room heating?
Start by deciding what you want the system to do. Taking the chill off the tiles is different from meeting the room's heating needs. Ask for an assessment of heat requirements and the available heated floor area before choosing output.
Check suitability for the wet area
Do not assume that a bathroom-rated product can be installed anywhere in a shower area. Ask the manufacturers to confirm compatibility between the exact heating system, former, waterproofing and tile assembly.
Approval for one combination should not be transferred to another. Impey, for example, identifies compatible heating for its own WaterGuard system.

Agree the complete floor build-up
Insulation, heating, waterproofing, adhesive and tiles all affect the finished floor. The product instructions determine the order and preparation of these layers. Check floor-covering temperature limits and confirm the chosen materials are suitable together.
Have the installer show the final threshold level before work starts.

Leave electrical work to a qualified electrician
Arrange electrical connection and testing with a qualified electrician. Agree the controls, sensor position and required protection before the floor is covered. Follow the manufacturer's commissioning instructions and keep the test records.
