Use this guide to prepare for a conversation with your installer.
Start with the room
Bring a dimensioned sketch to your installer. Show the shower, doorway, fittings and existing waste position. Add your preferred tile finish, whether you want floor heating, and any access needs.
Agree the scope before choosing individual products: what will remain, what needs removing, and which trades will be involved?
Check the floor and drainage
A wetroom depends on a stable floor and an effective route for wastewater. Ask your installer to check available depth, the position of the drain and the transition to the adjoining room. The tray or screed design must direct water to the drain.
The visible cover is only one part of the assembly. Confirm that the trap, waste connection and floor system work together.

Plan the waterproof layer
Waterproofing sits behind the finish and needs a continuous, compatible treatment at the floor, wall junctions, penetrations and drain. Ask the installer to define the required coverage and follow the chosen system's instructions for preparation and sealing.

Agree the finish and handover
Choose tiles suited to the wetroom and discuss slip resistance, ventilation and cleaning access. Keep the selected product instructions, warranty information and relevant test records together.
Before signing off, walk through the room with the installer and ask how to maintain the drain and finished surfaces.
